Meet our founder

Abdul Sesay, he started the Give Back to the Children Project back in 2007. Not just an idea this was something personal to him. Coming from Sierra Leone, his early life wasn’t easy. He lost his parents young, had to flee his home, and somehow ended up playing pro soccer before studying in the U.S. He went to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. That’s where the whole project kind of took off with a couple friends and a real drive to make some kind of change. Computers, books, just basic kids didn’t have them. So they got to work. The project, it’s called GBCP. Main focus is helping kids learn stuff that matters: computer skills, reading, basic health. It’s not just about school; it’s about life. They’ve made after-school programs, built learning spaces, and are still partnering with folks who get it. Abdul’s story, it’s not about what happened to him it’s about what he’s doing with it now.
